Yes, I watched it. And at one point I'll blog more either here or at Pop about Paris Hilton and this whole thing. In a nutshell, why I am obsessed with the story; yet why I cannot understand why anyone, anywhere, would buy anything she advertises. And my obsessed does not translate into like her or willing to spend my money to support her habits. It's more about justice, and how rich people live by different rules, etc.
Anyway.
Best part of the interview? When Paris, who has been saying she spent her days reading the Bible, was asked what her favorite Bible passage was. Anyone want to guess what her answer was?

What was it? Please do tell - I also heard she is being offered $1 mil to do a class at the (shoot what do you call it? that learning annex place) - I wouldn't pay anything to see her talk or teach on anything - they want her to teach a one-time class on "branding."
What the!? Okay she is a major "brand" - everyone knows who she is etc. but I don't think that was necessarily due to HER own branding genius!?
And the answer is...
perfect, actually, because it represents what bothers me most about Paris Hilton.
Paris (and her people) decided the photos with Bibles & Bible reading would be good press.
Yet she (and her people) failed to have a canned answer for what would be the obvious question, what is your favorite Bible passage?
And, when asked the question for which she was obviously not prepared, she ceased making eye contact, ducked her head, did total "ohmygodnowwhat" body language before answering that she didn't have one. In other words, could not think fast enough on her feet to even make up an answer.
Because even saying, oh the part about (insert bit anyone would know) but saying she didn't have it memorized would have been better than the awkward.dead.silence. of being caught being insincere & manipulative of the media.
Aw, man! I was holding out for the "wine is a mocker" Proverb -- but the "dog returneth to vomit" one also really works for me!!!
I'm torn between outright hooting laughter, and ...disturbed sympathy.
Okay, everyone, we all have to have our canned answers to standard questions ready! Otherwise, we'll be locked into embarrassed silence like PH.
For the record, my favorite Biblical passage is "Muzzle not the ox who troddeth out the grain." I've forgotten where it appears exactly, but it's a great defense against library directors who fret about their employees looting the book donations piles.
