I love lists like Betsy's Top 100 Children's Novels so I can count up the ones I've read and give myself a score. Great minds think alike, and I copied my list from TeacherNinja. (Which I found via The Reading Zone). You know the drill; bold what you read.

78 out of 100. Per usual, the Gentleman's C. At least it's a high C! Maybe even a C+! It may be higher, because I've forgotten some of the books I read as a kid/teen. So I could easily go to read Half Magic, for example, and thirty pages in go "d'uh. I did read this."

I've read 87...and yes, you should go read the Westing Game right now! You haven't read that one till you finished it. :) (And all those Dahl ones, too!)

I got 78, too, but I'm going to sort of cheat and say 82 because 4 of those are Harry Potter titles and I did read the first HP and pieces of the rest and saw the movies so I don't think I'm *missing* that much and I read a lot of the other stand-alone titles on this 100 Best Books list. :-)

My FAVORITE book as a child was THE LITTLE WHITE HORSE. Highly recommended!!! I read it over and over again. Fantasy, magical, historical. Happy sigh.

Also, YOU MUST READ THE WESTING GAME!!!!!! I can only imagine the wonderful books Ellen Raskin might have written if she hadn't died so young. I'd bet money she would have gone on to win the Newbery for a second time like Katherine Paterson and Lois Lowry both did.

I am trying not to feel like a failure having read only 46. However, I know that I have some great reading ahead of me.

I was at 79 -- I'm really going to miss getting up each morning and rushing to see what made the list that day (yes, I'm that much of a nerd).

You should definitely read Dahl. Is there a reason why you have not read his books?

@Kathy: Don't worry, I have read only 44. I will be looking to read some of the titles here. and it will be fun!
