Nomination!
YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association) has a number of awards and booklists that are done yearly, such as the Printz Award and the Best Fiction for Young Adult list.
You may know them from the finished product, and may agree, disagree, or wonder at what isn't on the list.
Did you know that anyone could nominate a book for these awards and booklists?
And that "anyone" includes you?
Here is the page with all the YALSA forms to nominate a title; please, carefully read the different requirements for each award and booklist and make sure you have all the information you need before completing the form. More information on how this works is at the YALSA blog.
The nominated titles for some of the YALSA lists appear at the YALSA website; for example, here is the list of nominated titles for Best Fiction Books for Young Adults. Are you wondering why a title that would fit perfectly isn't there? Nominate it! And make sure your "brief statement" really sells the book!
